Day 31: Rolling On

Today was one of my most effective days of writing since I began the writing prompts book and it was all a matter of me getting eight hours of sleep two nights in a row. I think I'll keep the ball rolling again tonight if possible!

My blog post on the writing website today was particularly pertinent as it was about increasing your writing output. In the post I was able to utilize the teachings of authors Jim Loehr and Tony Schwartz from their book The Power of Full Engagement, which is one of my favorites.

I thought of a few great ideas for books today, such as a 2011 book of 2,011 writing prompts dealing with the current events during the year. The book will act both as a sort of time capsule of the news and a great way to pull from past events to create stories. I could write a new book each year to draw off the previous one. If I simply write about 6 prompts a day every day, the book will write itself every single year. Might be fun!

Day 26: Faith

As an author selling his books online and creating additional books to sell, I need to have a lot of faith. I've been fortunate with the amount of books I've sold thus far and how many I continue to sell each month. With that income, I've been able to pay down some debt, move into a bigger apartment and I've been afforded more leisure time.

On days when my sales dip, I get concerned that this will be the end of the road and t hat I'll need to get a job if the trend continues. On those days, I try to have faith that it's all going to work out. If my sales dip, hopefully one of the new books I'm working on can make up for it. If it doesn't, hopefully my web traffic and Google AdSense will compensate. If that doesn't work, I just need to keep working hard and believing that a higher power has my back.

Today, I wrote some prompts on parents and family for the book along with a post on my main man, Earl Nightingale.

Day 13: 45 posts?

Here we are on day 13 of my ridiculous writing crusade and I've decided to post 45 blog posts on my writing blog today. Am I insane?

Well, not completely. The last couple of days I realized that I should be taking advantage of the fact that I have an entire book worth of elementary school writing prompts. Especially since my first grade and second grade writing prompt pages are the highest trafficked on the website.

I had already posted 50 prompts from the book as a sample and I decided to go all in and post the other 450, leading to 45 blog posts with a little introduction to each. I hope that this idea will increase my blog traffic astronomically after a few months and that it will add to my advertising revenue as well.

In the book today, which I worked on while eating a scone at Caribou Coffee, I played around with my chapter on education. Happy weekend!
